Drug & Alcohol Fitness-for-Duty Policies & Procedures for Public Transit (Q&A Document)

These are questions and answers from the National RTAP webinar on Drug & Alcohol Fitness-for-Duty Policies & Procedures for Public Transit, held January 19, 2018.

This webinar was a follow-up to our December 12, 2017 webinar which covered the update to U.S. DOT's drug and alcohol regulation, 49 CFR Part 40, effective January 1, 2018. One key piece of the update was the addition of four new prescription opioids to the drug testing panel.

During the webinar, Robbie Sarles of RLS & Associates provides a discussion about best-practices and suggestions for policies and procedures addressing an employee's "fitness-for-duty" in the context of the "significant safety risk" determination by an Medical Review Officer following a U.S. DOT drug test.
