Five small transit organizations serving the Northwest Oregon Coast banded together to promote travel to and from cities in Central Oregon to the coast and north and south along the scenic coastline. With a small budget, they were able to buy digital ads on social media which they carefully targeted to the audiences they most wanted to reach: confirmed transit riders living in the cities. In addition to geographically targeting the ads, the social media platforms allowed them to choose demographic characteristics of their audiences, such as age and gender, as well as their online activities and interests. The successfully achieved goal of the campaign was to increase visits to nwconnector.org; it also increased social media followers.
